Brew your own delicious spiced chai with this recipe.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon whole cardamom
1 whole cinnamon
5 teaspoons tea leaves
1 litre whole milk
5 cups boiling water
Mara Sugar to sweeten. As much or as little as you like!
Instructions for making Swahili Spiced Tea:
In a large pot, crush the cardamom pods and toast them with the cinnamon for about 15 minutes.
Add the water and allow to simmer down until there is around 3 cups of water remaining. Add the tea leaves and simmer for a further 20 minutes.
Add the milk and leave on low heat for another 15 minutes. Add Mara Sugar and boil on low heat for 2 minutes.
Turn the heat up and let the milk rise. Turn off the heat and strain. Serve and enjoy hot!
