Mara Sugar voted an East Africa Superbrand

Mara Sugar’s team is ‘thrilled’ to have been lauded an ‘East African Superbrand’ for the second time in a row.

Winning in the ‘Sugar’ category, the award recognises the significant advantages that Mara Sugar has over its competitors – and that its customers get to enjoy.

The Superbrands 2022 Tribute Awards were held on March 31 at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi and recognised 40 of the region’s top brands.

The evening was a celebration of the leading brands that persevered and broke boundaries despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brands recognised this year were derived from a 100% consumer insights survey.
Among other insights, the survey found that consumers were attracted to brands ‘with purpose’ – something which certainly rings true for Mara Sugar.

Partnering with more than 17,000 sugarcane farmers across the Transmara region, Mara Sugar works hand in hand with these producers to help support the local economy and improve their quality of life.

The brand provides farmers with training and farming services so that they are empowered with the tools they need to produce sugar that benefits everyone.

“We are thrilled and honoured to be recognised as the Superbrand in the Sugar category in the region,” said Frederick North-Coombes, CEO of Transmara Sugar Company.

“We thank our customers, our teams, the farmers of the region and the community for their contribution to this achievement. As an organisation, we will strive to maintain the standards set while trying to add a touch of sweetness to our customers’ lives.”
